Our Sweet Girl

These late visits make it much harder to post pictures in a timely manner! We only get to see Jenya from 3-6pm this week. But even though we’re only going once a day, she is really opening up to us. She talks (or babbles) so much more! Our translator, Natasha, said that when she would see Jenya in her room before we came she was so quiet and shy, taking in her surroundings but not making much noise. Now she says she’s quite different, more talkative and playful, which we love! I hope we are making her as happy as she has made Rick and me.

There were so many great pictures we got today that it’s hard to decide which ones to post. So I’ll try to get them all on there - I know my mom wants to see as many as possible, hopefully the rest of you don’t mind! I added a pic of Jenya's baby room so you can see where she hangs out most of the day. It's always very clean and neat! The babies sleep in their cribs in a room off to the left side.

We finally went bowling today (the alley is right in the hotel) and had a great time. We forgot to bring the camera, though, so maybe some pics next time. I kicked Rick’s butt - he is quite the sore loser! We might make a bet next time that the loser has to order the horse meat platter for dinner. I’ve heard it’s actually quite good, but not sure how I feel about trying it. I’m sure by the time we leave here it will have snuck onto our plates one way or another. It’s a delicacy here (there are not many beef options)!

Aunt T - Jenya has very little hair as you’ve probably noticed. But it seems to be more like a strawberry blonde, but could be light brown. We can’t wait until it grows in so we can see what she looks like with hair! But I didn’t have any until I was 2 years old, so we’ll see if she takes after her mommy.

Karen - I’d love to hear about the Next Food Network Star. Who are you rooting for? Who is still left in the competition?

  1. I'm right there with your Mom Kristen.......keep those pictures coming. I look forward to checking your site several times during the day for new pics of your precious little one! The place looks very nice where Jenya is. How many babies are there waiting for there forever home?

  3. I'm not even sure how many babies are available for adoption! The thing is, many of the children living there are not available, because if their parents cannot care for them but are not willing to give them up for adoption, they live in the baby houses too. It's sort of like our version of foster homes, but instead the children all live in the baby houses across the country. We're so lucky Jenya was available to adopt - she is just a perfect addition to our family :)

  6. I love that one with her sitting on Rick! It's so cute! I'm also glad you kicked his butt bowling :)

So, now on to the important stuff....I am rooting for Tom to be the next Food Network Star (he's the kinda chubby guy with the fuzzy hair) or Artie (the Indian girl). Last week Herb got kicked off, but he really bugged me anyway. I didn't like Paul either, but he's gone too.

Is there anything else we both watch? I can't think....

Well give that little precious face a kiss for me! (no, not you Rick!)

    Love you!

  11. Project Runway - one of my faves! Good thing I'm recording it at home. Karen, I was rooting for Artie too, she's just so sweet. And Tom has gotten so much better that I think he has a good chance too. So glad Paul is gone, he was such a jerk!
