Jenya Enjoying the Outdoors

We must have walked 25 laps around the baby house today. Jenya loves riding in the stroller and looking at everything going on around her. The playground was filled with the older children running around playing together. It’s a beautiful day here today and the kids were having a lot of fun together. There were two girls playing on the swing that would yell to us every time we passed, saying “Mama!” and “Papa!” and smile and wave. They were so adorable. I wonder if they have parents who visit them, I really hope they do. We recognized a few of the children playing whose parents had just left after their first trip. The two boys adopted by the Canadian couple came up to us to say “hello!” It was sweet that they wanted to greet us in English because they know that’s what we speak.

Tomorrow we will spend the day in the capital city of Astana. It is a couple hours drive by car, but is a must see according to everyone we’ve spoken to. We even met a young man on the bus who attends Karaganda University who told us that Astana is a beautiful, modern city and it even has skyscrapers! Rick asked him if it was similar to NYC, and he laughed and said that it wasn’t quite as big. He told us he was so excited to be able to speak to us in English since he’s been learning it for his law degree. So we’ll keep busy tomorrow touring the capital and taking lots of pictures for Jenya to look at when she gets older.

  1. OMG!!!! I love her in her scarf. Can't get enough of her. You were right, they are beautiful pictures. She is taking in everything that is going on around her with the children playing. It must be such a treat. We have to take Jenya and Kennedy for lots of walks when Sandy T. and I are watching our babies. What a joy that will be.
It's so cute that the children are calling out to you as mama and papa. A little sad too. They must know you are there to adopt a baby and are new mommies and daddies.
Have a great time in Astana. How will you get there?

  4. I can say that Jenya is "beautiful". but that word just does not fully discribe her,we do not have enough space or words to discribe her.
I am at Kevin & Kristies, house/dog sitting, while they are in NJ. Will be here till next Sun.
Mary, I keep changing my background also. She looks so sweet in her bandanna.
Have a good time in Astana.

  5. Kristen, that scarf is just fabulous on Jenya. I love how she looks so serious in the pictures, but still has a little smile. I think she smizes :) just like Tyra.

I have to tell you each morning Kennedy and I check at the blog to see the latest pictures. As soon as she sees the map of Kazakhstan at the top of the screen she starts smiling and waving. She recognizes that she will be seeing pictures of her baby gold friend.

Mrs. Zindell I was just thinking the same thing. Kennedy loves to take walks in her stroller. They both seem to really love to watch what goes on around them and just take it all in.

  6. Mom, we have a taxi to take us there and back and also show us around the city for the day. It only costs 25,000 tenge, which is $170. Not too bad for 3 of us for the whole day. Should be fun!

  7. That is so cute April! It's funny because I will pull out the photo book from my bag and as soon as Jenya sees it she gets excited. I always say "Look Jenya, who's the baby? It's Kennedy!" Then she slaps her hand on Kennedy's picture and smiles. I can't wait until we can get them together!
