We had a nice day in Almaty, exploring a little of the city. We took a ride up the mountain on something that looked like a ski lift, but you could stand in it. There was a fair at the top, with rides, zoo animals and lots of games. We just looked around and took it all in, but sometimes that’s the best part. They even had camel rides and you could get up close to the camel for pictures. As you can see from the picture of me with the camel above, I did not want to get too close to him! I wish I could post more pictures, but we’ll save that for when we get home.
As for losing weight on our trip, I don’t think that’s going to happen. We had an awesome lunch today that consisted of pizza and ice cream! The pizza had mushrooms, tomatoes, chicken and salami on it. Kind of an interesting mix, but it was really good. Then Rick got chocolate ice cream for dessert which was very tasty. The whole lunch came to $20 but we also had two huge sodas. I’m not sure if they have diet sodas over here. I haven’t seen one in any of the stores, and if I ask for it I get strange stares back. It could just be because they have no idea what I’m saying anyway. At least we’ve mastered “thank you” in Russian. It goes a long way.
We’re waiting for our driver to pick us up and bring us to the airport for our final flight into Karaganda. I hope I can sleep tonight – I need to be refreshed for meeting our little one! Post again soon…

So glad you are taking advantage of the area. We went to the Wacky Raft Race on Sunday. Ran into a few of Rick's siblings. Lisa asked me to pass along here love and excitement to you. ALso saw April and Kennedy there, she looks just like her daddy. So cute. It was a nice day. Next yr you will be pushing your little one in the stroller right along with April. Hope you slept last night. Know you probably didn't, too much to think about ;)
