My aunt asked on the comments how our travel companion Catherine was doing, and the answer is wonderful! She has found her little boy here-it was love at first sight! She okayed my posting a picture of them together for you all. He is 6 months old and the cutest little guy. He's got an awesome smile with huge dimples!
Another question from Kelly was what do we do with all our spare time? Well, since we're only allowed one or two visits to the baby house a day, we try to spend the rest of the time exploring the city. It gets boring staying in the hotel, but it really is a nice place to stay. There's a bowling alley in the hotel that we plan to go to tonight, should be fun.
The other picture I've posted is of a traditional Russian restaurant in Karaganda. It was actually a terrible experience but we learned our lesson. The menu had chicken, beef, and fish dishes, but they had no chicken or beef. So we ordered fish. Both my salmon and Rick's perch were completely full of bones. It took us a good 45 minutes to get through picking all the bones out of the meal and our mouths as we ate it. Catherine was smart and got shrimp but it was so overcooked it tasted like rubber. The best part was that it cost $50 for that lunch! Oh well, we'll stick with our favorite Chinese food restaurant from now on that costs $20 and is incredibly good. No more fish in Kazakhstan for us!

ReplyDeleteEven before I saw your comments, I could tell Rick was not happy with his meal. Oh! Rick it is a good thing that you have your beautiful baby girl to take away that disappointment and put that smile back on your face.
I know we have joy/anguish about when we will all be able to see Jenya, Kristen & Rick in their own "baby house", as we pray for their safe return. My prayer/questions were answered last night in a song we sang at church,just some of the words of hope, 'Jesus, you are never late, you are always there with your love & grace. Never in a rush, we can always trust that you will come.' His timing is always perfect. As we found out with Jenya, who is a year old, and only came up for adoption a month ago.

I hope you are enjoying every minute with her ( i know you are) and hopefully next time I wont miss your phone call! Everything is good back at the Deyo's house! Everyone here misses you!!

ReplyDeleteSo I imagine you must be going through withdrawals being away from Jenya since we are having withdrawals without new pictures of her today. Hope you had a nice day with Rick. Catherine's baby is just precious. She is glowing almost as much as the two of you! Will they live close to you when you return to the States. It would be nice for the kids to be able to get together.

ReplyDeleteCatherine lives in Virginia, so Jenya and Tyler won't be seeing too much of each other. She's so lucky to have baby goldfriend at home waiting for her, though! She definitely needs a playmate her age :)
Ok so it is monday morning and I am not seeing those promised photos yet. Don't you know some of us can not start our day until we see what your beautiful Jenya is up to?
